Hi, thought you'd be interested to know the location of the other bus depot was at Nunhead Lane - although the depot has been replaced with new homes, and the toilet block with features in 'The Allownace' is located opposite Peckham Rye Park (again believe it is part of Nunhead Lane SE15). The park and surrounding streets and properties were used for various of episodes in the last series. The side road in the scene Goodbye Stan is still there, next to the housing estate. The other toilet house featured in The Allowance is actually in the park - follow Strakers Road SE15.
Regards
Mark Pearson

Luxton Depot - Dateline: February 2007

Fans all over the world of the three spin-off films of 'On The Buses' will
have probably at sometime or another wondered exactly where the bus depot
was sitauted that was used in the films. Well, I'm here to confirm that it
was in reality Stage 5 at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Herts. Sadly,
Stage 5 was situated on part of the studios' site that was demolished in the
early 90s. A Tescos supermarket was then built on this part of the site. My
photo above shows the part of the land where the depot (Stage 5) stood, as
it looked in February 2007, during one of my visits to the studios next
door.

Fortunately, the surviving part of Elstree Film & Television Studios (as it
is now called) now thrives, having been rescued from Brent Walker back in
1996. More recently it has been run by a production company on behalf of
Hertsmere Borough Council, and now Pacifica Ventures is now set to take a
new lease on the studios sometime during 2007.

I found myself in North-East London yesterday, and made a quick detour to the hallowed ground in Wood Green.  Quite surprising to see how much has changed in the relatively short time since I last called in....

The building which now occupies most of the depot site has changed use (then a 'Do It All', now a Gala Bingo hall), and the church-like building next door, which was the only substantial reference point on my last visit, has recently been demolished.  There's also been a lot of redevelopment further up the road, too, with a new pub/shopping complex on the depot-side of Lordship Lane, opposite the tube station entrance.  A new road has been created alongside that building, a few doors up from the depot site (roughly where a timber merchants can be seen in the series), from which buses were once again pouring out during the rush-hour - albeit red ones!

There's really not much left to recognise now, other than the houses opposite… and bizarrely, the numbers above the door of the laundrette across the road - exactly as seen in 'First Aid' and the like…Thanks to David Shepppard of BBC Radio Berkshire for this info.

The real Wood Green
The depot used in the series was Eastern National's Wood Green depot, which fronted on to Lordship Lane - in many of the scenes showing buses entering the depot from the front, other landmarks can be seen, including the entrance to Wood Green underground station (just about visible in "FirstAid"), as well as the Eastern National enquiry office, which used to be sited
alongside the depot (seen clearly in "The Kids' Outing").

In early episodes, buses are sometimes shown entering the depot from what appear to be smaller roads at the rear (notably the scene with Arthur'shandlebars trailing behind the bus!).

Having closed when its main route, the 251 to Southend, was cut back to Walthamstow, the depot and all adjoining houses have been demolished without trace, and the whole site is now occupied by "Do it All" and a car hire firm. The church alongside it, with its distinctive arch patterned wall, was still to be seen on my last visit there some years ago.

Sadly no longer there, the Elstree Studios set was used in the Buses Films as above

In the first two films, I gather from a friend of my father's who lives near to Elstree, that many of the 'on-road' shots were filmed in Radley
In the first film, the famous London Transport 'skidpan' in Chiswick was used for the filming of Stan's test by the insurance company following the telephone box incident - and all the buildings there have since been demolished.
